Paddle Into Fitness began with instructor and owner Gillian Gibree who became hooked on the sport on Cape Cod in 2007 while working as an ocean lifeguard. After exploring the beautiful marshes and SUP surfing on the Outer Beach, she discovered Stand Up Paddle Boarding was an amazing fitness workout while being fun and adventurous at the same time! Not only was it the perfect total body workout, but a low impact, beginner friendly, all inclusive sport. Adding her yoga practice to a paddleboard seemed like a natural fit, and the calm ocean provided the perfect healing environment. Soon after, Gillian began teaching the practice to her friends and family, and then brought her lessons to San Diego after she moved to the West Coast.
Today Paddle Into Fitness has three different locations, a certification program, and was even nominated for Best Yoga in San Diego by the Union Tribune in 2011! Paddle Into Fitness was a presenter at the San Diego Yoga Journal Conference and the Wanderlust Oahu Festival. The company is partnered with companies Roxy, Ocean Minded, and 404 SUP.
